Does Your Planner Still Work?

When we went into remote learning mode, I noticed that there were some new elements of my schedule and day to day activity that needed some attention. Adding these elements to my planner has helped me get organized in a way that works with a more flexible schedule.

While remote learning, my context was having 24 seventh graders for LA.


I also taught an integrated studies class (science/social sciences), with a co-teacher for 6-8 graders. This unit was completely asynchronous. However, we'd meet with students if the need arose.


Here's a partial image of the schedule my 7th-grade teaching partner (math) and I kept. Times ran until 1:00. However, we'd meet with students beyond that if the need arose.

We met with kids via study groups (ELA & Math classes divided in half), small groups (Thursday & Friday), and 1:1 (Monday-Wednesday). We held open office hours Wednesday mornings. This schedule enabled us multiple points of contact with each student per week.
